Educator's Schedule & Program Information

On behalf of the Peel Children's Safety Village, we thank you for your interest in booking your class for a one hour and 30 minute program at our Safety Village. We know your students will enjoy the hands-on learning environment that our program provides.

We will begin taking bookings for the 2011 - 2012 school year on Monday, JUNE 20, 2011

The Peel Children's Safety Village is a non-profit Corporation, supported by fund raising initiatives within the community it serves. As a result, the Safety Village is able to provide educational safety programs at no cost to school children in the Region of Peel.

This page will inform you and the parent chaperones, of our expectations for your visit. As a portion of our program is spent outside, please ensure students dress accordingly.

Programs

Jeep

Grade One (October, November, December, May and June)

Following a classroom presentation on Stranger Awareness and Pedestrian/Traffic Safety, the students will go outdoors. One class will drive around the Village in motorized Jeeps, practicing the rules of the road and the other class will walk through the Village in workgroups, practicing good pedestrian skills. All students will be monitored on their Pedestrian Safety and Pedestrian Behaviour. The student groups will change places after a period of time, in order to complete the entire program.

 
Cyclist

Grade Three (March and April)

Following a classroom presentation on Stranger Awareness and Bicycle/Traffic Safety, the students will go outdoors. The class will participate in a walking tour of the Safety Village, visiting various buildings and playing educational games . The students will exchange places, in order to complete the entire program. The Village Officers, Volunteers, Teachers and Parent Chaperones will supervise all activities. Children must bring their own helmets that meet standards. If weather permits, students will be given the opportunity to ride bicycles (not guaranteed).

 
Youth and the Law

Grade Five (January and February)

Specialized, unique and interactive multimedia 1 1/2 hour classroom presentation on Youth and the Law. Students are able to work closely with Police Officers to learn about Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws through discussion, video, and a group activity, finishing with an interactive game.
